Health authorities have long used to say that Viagra itself isn’t enough. But the medicine hasn’t been around for more than a decade. It’s been around for decades, and the FDA — the U. S. Food and Drug Administration — approved it for only a few months in March.
The little blue pill, touted as the first in a new class of therapies known as phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE5) inhibitors, is marketed extensively across the U. S., with millions of prescriptions being made each year.
Viagra is approved for men over the age of 50 and offers the medicine in three main dosages: 50 milligrams, 100 milligrams and 100 milligrams.
Viagra comes in the following 50 milligram doses: 50, 100 and 200 milligrams.
“The 100 milligram dose is the standard dose for PDE5 inhibitors,” FDA spokeswomanrequencyometown Williams said. “The 50 milligram dose is a typical dose for Viagra.”
The dose for Viagra, which is also sold under the brand name, is typically only 50 milligrams. It’s taken four times per day, with a maximum of six daily doses. Doctors recommend taking it four to six hours before sexual activity, before bedtime.
Viagra’s primary function is to improve blood flow to the penis, helping men achieve and maintain an erection during sexual activity.
PDE5 inhibitors work by blocking the enzyme that leads to the relaxation of blood vessels in the penis, allowing for increased blood flow during sexual arousal.
Viagra, which Sildenafil is also sold under, contains the same ingredient. It’s sold under the brand name, and the FDA says it should be no worse than the generic Sildenafil.
“This drug is exactly the same as the well-known PDE5 inhibitor,” said Jim Sage, a physician at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Sage has seen improvement in more than two dozen men over the last six months. He says his results are encouraging, and that “there’s no question” that Viagra is effective.
Sage says he takes three 50 milligram doses a day. “If you take a 50 milligram dose, you should take it four times per day,” she said.
The dose for Viagra isn’t 100 milligram, but 100 milligrams. “The maximum daily dose is four tablets,” she said.
When taking Viagra with food, the recommended dose is 50 milligrams. But if a man takes a 50 milligram dose of Viagra, he should take the dose four times per day.
The most common side effects of Viagra include headache, facial flushing, nasal congestion, indigestion and dizziness. The drug’s other active ingredient, Sildenafil, is a blue pill that treats pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the arteries carrying blood to the lungs).
Men who take Viagra also can experience erectile dysfunction, a condition that can put a strain on relationships.
“I tend to get more erectile problems when I take Viagra,” said Edward Jones, a 20-year-old who took the drug four times last year.
Jones said he often takes Viagra for heart-related side effects, and he and his wife, Susan, have been friends for several years.
“I’m not going to lie,” Jones said. “It can be embarrassing, but it’s not that I can’t have intimacy with my partner.”
Viagra can interact with other drugs, including certain antidepressants and blood pressure medications. That makes it more likely that someone else could take the drug, too.
Patients taking nitrates for chest pain or high blood pressure should talk with their doctor before taking Viagra, too.
Sildenafil (Viagra) is an oral treatment for the treatment of erectile dysfunction and pulmonary arterial hypertension.
In the UK, sildenafil was also approved for pulmonary arterial hypertension in 2016.
Viagra (sildenafil citrate) works within 30 minutes to an hour. This is due to the fact that sildenafil citrate is a PDE-5 inhibitor.
However, you must still consult your doctor about its effects.
The duration of Viagra's effects varies based on the dosage, but it is typically around 4 hours.
Viagra is available only with a doctor's prescription.
There are few people who overdose on Viagra. This is because it is a PDE-5 inhibitor.
It may happen that a patient will become dizzy, or that he/she will experience a severe headache.
If this occurs, it is advisable to stop the drug and seek medical attention immediately.
If you think you may be suffering from erectile dysfunction, you should not take this medication. Instead, seek medical help if you experience:
If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in Viagra, you must also stop taking the drug and consult your doctor about the treatment.
If you think you may be suffering from any serious health conditions such as if you have high blood pressure, diabetes, a heart or blood vessel disease, kidney or liver disease, or if you suffer from or take any other medication for any condition.
If you think Viagra could be a potential drug of your choice, you must also inform your doctor about all the medications you are already taking. This is because the drug may interact with:
If you are in a hospital, or have a hospital stay, you must also inform your doctor about all the medicines you are currently taking.
Like all drugs, Viagra can cause side effects in some people. However, it is not a complete list of side effects.
Common side effects of Viagra may include:
If you experience any of the above side effects, you must inform your doctor right away.
If you are allergic to Viagra, you must also stop taking Viagra and consult your doctor about the treatment.
If you are taking a nitrate drug, you must also inform your doctor about the medication.
If you are taking a blood pressure medication, you must also inform your doctor about the medication.
If you are a woman, you must also inform your doctor about the medication.
Viagra lasts around 4 hours for the effects to work and the maximum dose is 100mg.
Alcohol consumption is not recommended while on Viagra.
The effects of alcohol may last longer than four hours.
If you have taken Viagra, you should seek medical help if you experience any severe symptoms.
